BEE A NATIVE BEE KEEPER!
In 2016, the UN estimated that 40% of our invertebrate pollinators are at risk of extinction globally. Honeybees, an immigrant, have become the mascot for the bee decline. Although they take the spotlight, there are over 20,000 different bee species worldwide! Our native bees are at risk!
Since native bees rarely ever sting, gardening for native bees and raising them is perfect for urban gardeners, community gardens, and school gardens! Come get an introduction to a few of the 1,600 different native bee species in California.
In this class, we will discuss: the status of native bees, native gardening for native bees, introduction to native bee species, and creating habitats to raise native bees.
This topic has been high in demand! The class is designed for ages 8 & up, but all ages are welcome.
The class will be online via Facebook Live Stream in a special FB Class group. Registered students will receive a link to the group. The streamed class video will stay up for 7 days. Also, questions can be posted to the group and answered within that 7 days, after which the group will be closed.
FAQS: We reserve the right to cancel the class and refund your fee if we do not reach a minimum attendance. In addition, you may cancel up to 5 days before the class. Afterwards, the fee is nonrefundable unless canceled by us.
