Hive Hosting at Businesses

1/4/2017

We are depths of winter here in SoCal ;) and preparing for Spring! We are currently accepting sign ups for hosts in San Bernardino, East Los Angeles, and North Riverside counties. So, this week, we will be highlighting possible hosting sites.

Today we will focus on businesses and hotels which can sign up to host a traditional outdoor hive or an indoor observation hive.

I get asked, "Is it safe to have a hive at our place of business?"

Answer: "Yes. As long as the hive is installed in a secure section of the garden and away from walking pathways. We recommend outdoor hives be secured in animal kennels or in a structure with a lock. Honeybees are generally docile in nature and are only prompted to sting when provoked. Indoor observation hives are enclosed and sealed."

We are depths of winter here in SoCal ;) and preparing for Spring!  We are currently accepting sign ups for hosts in San Bernardino, East Los Angeles, and North Riverside counties.  So, this week, we will be highlighting possible hosting sites.

Today we will focus on schools.  Montessori schools, Charter schools, etc. which can sign up to host a traditional outdoor hive or an indoor observation hive.

I get asked, "Is it safe to have a hive at our school?"

Answer:  "Yes.  As long as the hive is installed in a secure section of the garden and away from walking pathways.  We recommend outdoor hives be secured in animal kennels or in a structure with a lock.  As long as all student hive activities are supervised and safety procedures followed, students should be free from harm.  Honeybees are generally docile in nature and are only prompted to sting when provoked.  Indoor observation hives are enclosed and sealed."
